Klien finished his second weekend in the Renault Sport Trophy in Jerez on P2, von Grünigen doubled up with runner-up in Prestige event
In difficult and ever-changing weather conditions, Zele Racing opted for a split strategy sending out Christian Klien on wets, while team mate Bas Schothorst was on slicks like most of the grid. And the smart tactics paid off: Klien made up several spots charging through the field in the Elite Drivers‘ sprint event from P10 to P2.
„It was great race. The track was pretty slippery, so my tires suited the conditions much better than the slicks. The car was perfectly prepared, so I could really push. I had a lot of fun out there today, „the former F1 driver said.
Swiss youngster Christof von Grünigen rounded off a successful season closing weekend for the Austrian outfit by coming a strong second in the Prestige Drivers‘ race.
“We are delighted with the results. It was very difficult out there these past two days, so I am happy that our drivers rose to the occasion“, team boss Michael Zele said.
„Now we will celebrate a little and the stick our heads together to further improve our line-up for 2016“, he added.
